ADELANTO -- Ben Lively improved to 9-1 and the Bakersfield Blaze hit five home runs in a 14-8 win over the High Desert Mavericks on Monday afternoon.

Lively pitched seven innings, allowing five runs (all earned), seven hits and zero walks while striking out seven.

It was a weary Condors team that returned to Bakersfield on Thursday afternoon.

The season ended in Anchorage, Alaska, Tuesday night in the ECHL's Western Conference finals with a 4-1 Game 6 loss to the Aces, who won the series 4 games to 2.

A new general manager. A new coaching staff. An almost entirely new roster.

And a 1-10-1 start to the season.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska --The best season in Condors history ended on Tuesday night as the Alaska Aces advanced to the Kelly Cup Finals with a 4-1 win in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals.

The Aces, who were playing in their seventh Western Conference Finals, will face Cincinnati in the finals with Game 1 on Friday night in Anchorage. Cincinnati beat Greenville 3-2 on Tuesday night -- the game winner was a short-hander -- to win that series in six games.

The task is Herculean: Go to Anchorage and beat the Alaska Aces.

The Condors did that in their last game there on May 17.

No doubt about it, the Condors are staggering.

And they are just one punch away from being knocked out of the ECHL Western Conference Finals by the Alaska Aces.

If the Condors are going to advance to the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals, they will have to do so in Anchorage, Alaska.

Whether they will be up a game or down a game in the ECHL Western Conference Finals will be determined tonight in Game 5 at Rabobank Arena.

MESA, Ariz. -- Hayden Carter did his best to keep Cal State Bakersfield in Saturday's elimination game, but the offense never came to the rescue.

The junior from San Diego pitched a complete game -- his second in three starts -- and held Sacramento State, the tournament's top seed, to six hits and three runs. It wasn't enough to keep the Roadrunners from being eliminated by the Hornets, who won 3-1 Saturday.

The Condors proved that no lead is ever safe against the Alaska Aces, but they had just enough of one on Friday night to come away with a wild 5-4 win before 6,411 at Rabobank Arena.

The victory gave them a 2-1 series lead in the ECHL Western Conference Finals with Game 4 at 7 tonight.

ANCHORAGE -- Gary Steffes scored three minutes into overtime to life the Condors to a 3-2 victory over Alaska Saturday at Sullivan Arena.

The victory evened the ECHL Western Conference FInals at a game apiece with the next three games in Bakersfield, starting on Friday night.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The Alaska Aces spent much of the third period on Friday night pressuring the Condors.

And it was a turnover with less than three minutes left that led to the winning goal as the Aces beat the Condors 2-1 in the opening game of the ECHL Western Conference Finals before 4,197 at Sullivan Arena.

STOCKTON -- For Condors coach Troy Mann and his players, it's all about belief.

Trailing 1-0 in the third period on Friday night and time ticking down, the Condors never panicked, scoring two late goals to beat the Thunder 2-1 and take a 3-1 lead in ECHL Western Conference Semifinal The Condors can wrap up the series tonight in Stockton, which would put them into the Conference Finals for the first time in team history.

STOCKTON -- Upon further review of game video, there is little doubt that Stockton's first goal against the Condors on Wednesday night was directed in by a kicking motion and should not have counted.

That was the immediate ruling of referee Ryan Murphy, who, after conferring with his linesman, changed his mind and awarded the goal, which tied the game 1-1 midway through the second period.

STOCKTON -- Turnovers and penalties.

The two proved to be a deadly combination for the Condors on Wednesday night as the Stockton Thunder took full advantage of those en route to a 6-2 victory at Stockton Arena.

For half this season, Greg Miller was a key asset for the Stockton Thunder.

Assigned to the Thunder by Bridgeport (Conn.) of the American Hockey League, Miller racked 38 points in 37 games to lead Stockton in scoring. His last goal for the Thunder came in a 1-0 over Utah on Feb. 15.

The Condors were just trying to celebrate a hard-fought victory. The Stockton Thunder may have been trying to send a message.

The Condors beat the Thunder 2-0 before a raucous crowd of 4,742 on Saturday night at Rabobank Arena to take a 2-games-to-none lead in what has turned into a cantankerous ECHL Western Conference semifinal.
